2018 marks the 60th anniversary of Flexovit, the leading manufacturer of industrial performance abrasives. We’re delighted to be celebrating this momentous milestone, and the below video shows our journey to becoming a trusted abrasives partner:
Founded in Enschede, the Netherlands, in 1958 by Wim Ebbink, Flexovit began life as a grinding wheel manufacturer known as Slijptechniek. Since then however, we’ve grown from cutting wheel specialist to global supplier of industrial abrasive solutions that improve performance in a number of applications, such as metal fabrication, transport and hardware markets.
Following a number of successful years building our reputation, we changed our name to Flexovit in 1984. This new name better reflected what we stand for: Flex means ‘angle grinder’ in Dutch, ‘o’ mirrors the shape of the wheel and ‘vit’ comes from the French for speed, vitesse.
In 1998, Saint-Gobain Abrasives acquired the brand, bringing a wider distribution network and R&D specialists, allowing us to further expand our product portfolio reach more customers. Flexovit now offers a complete collection of high performance abrasives: coated abrasives, cutting-off & grinding wheels, bonded abrasives, diamond blades and super abrasives, for a wide range of processes, such as cutting, grinding, sharpening, blending, finishing and polishing. |  |

To mark the occasion, our new anniversary logo celebrating 60 years of abrasive excellence will be applied to our products during 2018. Many activities have been planned for our 60th year, including anniversary promotional products and packaging, plus branded gifts. We’ve also got something special planned at the International Hardware Fair, 4-7 March 2018 – we hope to see you there! |
