Rubber bonded abrasives are bonded by special types of rubber, which allows a soft treatment of the piece. The bonding makes the grain only touch the piece very lightly, resulting in a fine removal. The advantage is that no crannies or furrows are left in the material. As a rule, higher pressure enlarges the removal effect on the piece. Lower pressure on the other hand, extends the polishing.
Characteristics
Flexovit rubber bonded abrasives are available in different qualities from soft to hard. The three qualities are produced with an aluminium grain. Considering the many possibilities for application, rubber bonded abrasives are produced to size.
Polishing discs are available in diameters between 40 mm and 300 mm. Thickness varies from 5 up to 50mm. It's important that the wheel is locked tightly. The wheels shouldn't be wrenched around the shaft, as this might lead to tensions within the wheel.
